I’ve been looking forward to cold temperatures and cozy fires (and soup!), but warm weather is hanging on here in Indiana. Our quarterly Walk With Us yarn club captures the lingering transition from summer green through bright autumn, and the browns of winter.
Whenever we need a bit of a break to clear our minds and rejuvenate our spirits, Bill, Pullo and I go for a walk. We created the Walk With Us yarn club to share those strolls with you, and we are so glad that many of you are enjoying the stories and colorways we create. The November colorway is called Seasons Change. It captures the fade of late summer color into autumnal brilliance and then the neutrality of winter.
The yarn has a bright yellow stripe that fades into a late summer green, and then to a warm brown. Soft gray and slate blue hint at the coming winter. You can preorder this yarn as a single skein or sign up for the quarterly club, which includes a newsletter with photos and musings related to the colorway. There is a short excerpt from the newsletter below.
Also available for preorder this month are two of last year’s Farm Life club colorways. “I’d Eat That,” by the Goats has thin stripes of the goats’ favorite plants to browse, including mulberry, honeysuckle, and black raspberry (and the occasional BBQ potato chips!). Like the excited animals on a new pasture, the colors bounce in one direction and then the other.
Wildlife Welcome is an nice neutral colorway with stripes for many of the animals that live in the undisturbed areas of our farm.
These three colorways are available for preorder through November 16, and will ship to you by December 11.
We have some yarn club news that I am very excited to share! We’ve been so lucky to keep our yarn club running for six years! Thank you to everyone who has joined us for some - or all - of this journey. We are so very grateful for your support, and we love thinking about parts of our farm filling your sock drawers.
For these six years, we’ve explored a few different long term themes. In 2025, however, we’re throwing the doors wide open and embracing all possibilities. There will be no year-long theme for the club, but the next year will include a few short term yarn club special events. The first special event will take place from February through May and will by styled after Choose Your Own Adventure books. There will be a short story each month, which will end with two options. Each option will be connected to a different yarn colorway, and a different path on the story.
If you are not already a member of the monthly or bi-monthly yarn club, you can join us either by signing up for the ongoing club, or by purchasing just the special event. We’ll post more details in December, along with the option to pay for all four months of the adventure at once (in case you want to start dropping hints to a loved one about potential holiday gifts). We’re really excited to craft a cute story with corresponding yarns, and see what choices you make!!
We’ll end with a bit from the Walk With Us newsletter. Thank you for your interest in our shop! We’re sending all the warm autumn vibes and wishes for peaceful afternoons in the sun.
From “Seasons Change”
Fall and winter allows for a significantly higher intentionality to our perambulations. Recovered from the relative exhaustion of market season, we are not in any hurry. Pullo gets to sniff more, we walk farther, and have more energy for interesting discussion. Three days ago, we went for a 45 minute walk, and tried to understand quantum computing. (Spoiler: we couldn’t. It’s weird, but we loved the attempt.) The week before that we started spending a bit of time ushering woolly bear caterpillars, praying mantises, and baby snapping turtles to safety away from the middle of the road, a task that continues daily.
Change is everywhere, and it has brought our favorite season for walking.
