Hello friends! We’re making the rapid transition from summer to winter holidays! I’ve been in the December mood, working on Battvent with all the sappy Christmas movies on in the background. We are also ready to release our 2024 winter holiday colorway.
It is called Merry and Bright Market, and is based on the December market we do each year on a town square that looks like it’s right out of a Christmas movie.
There is a parade with winter themed floats. There are reindeer and children dancing in Christmas sweaters. And, The Grinch often shows up. I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a curmudgeon, but even I am charmed by this event. It is just so sweet and happy. We enjoy making handpies and pastries for it every year, and spending the evening under the stars and lights visiting with friends and customers, ringing in the holiday season.
This year, we’ve also made a yarn colorway for it! Merry and Bright Market is available for pre-order on any of our yarn bases. You can choose if you’d like to add a mini skein or sock tube cranking. Preorders are open through October 26 and the yarn will ship by mid-November.
There are two additional yarns for preorder this month as well. The 2021 holiday colorway, Deep Woods Solstice Celebration, and a 2023 yarn club favorite, Goodnight Farm.
There are also two ready-to-ship gradients in the shop. I’m having lots of fun playing with these! I am certainly new to this sort of dyeing and I would love your feedback on them. I knit a large shawl with a fingering weight skein this summer and really enjoyed it.

Yes. That middle sheep has five legs. No, I don’t know what’s going on with the needles the sheep is holding… But, I do know that if you would like help with your winter sock knitting - for gifts or yourself - we can crank your stash yarn into tubes. You just add heels, toes, and cuffs, and you’ve got a pair of socks! The service is currently priced at a pre-pandemic, non-inflation price.
