It’s getting warmer, which means summer is nearly here, along with my favorite spinning event: the Tour de Fleece! During the Tour de France (June 29-July 21), handspinners around the world spend a little time each day with their wheels, spindles, and espinners and share their spinning progress on social media. It is an excellent celebration of the craft!
To honor this joyous event, I create spinning packs of mini batts. Each pack contains 21 different, but coordinating, mini batts, allowing you to spin one a day during the Tour.
The 2024 theme is French Countryside, and will inspired by hazy, vintage greens, cottage blues and creams, and an explosion of deep wildflower purples and yellows. These photos will be my inspiration when I start dyeing wool today.
These Tour de Fleece Packs feature 21 mini batts (0.25 oz each - for a total of 5.25 oz) mixed in a large ziplock bag. The wool for the mini batts will be Blue-faced Leicester and Corriedale, and they will contain sari silk and sparkle. Pre-orders are open now and packs will ship by June 15. Here is a sample from a previous spinning pack to demonstrate size of minis and packaging - the actual mini batts you receive will be a surprise!
In yarn news, today is the last day to preorder our Quarterly Walk With Us colorway, Rescuing Lola! It is the sweetest, spring-iest stripe we’ve ever dyed, and we hope it makes your feet happy.
Finally, just a little note to say I’ve added a tiny paper shop to the website with handmade cards and embellishments for scrapbooking and journaling. If you love snail mail like I do, check it out!
Thank you so much for your interest in our shop! Everyone on the farm is grateful for your support!
What fabulous inspiration the french countryside will be!
