I’m so grateful that modern weather science can give us advanced warning about big, freezing cold weather systems. It gives us time to prepare to care for our animals, like getting extra straw to lay deeply in the barn. Bill is also drilling holes in our bathroom wall as I type this, in order to Do Plumbing Things to hopefully prevent our old pipes from freezing like they did the last time it got this cold.
We’ve also been stacking extra wood in the house to feed the two wood stoves that provide all of our heat. The flickers and shadows from the flames against our living room or bedroom walls is a daily source of comfort and joy for half the year, and is the inspiration for a new colorway: Cozy Embers.
It has thick stripes of two very warm oranges, and thin repeating stripes of a gray, pink, and brown that are all spiced up with a touch of orange. To be honest, I would put orange in everything, and am a bit shocked I haven’t made this colorway until now!
Cozy Embers is available for preorder on your favorite yarn base through January 20. It will ship by February 7.
Also available for the first time is Conifer, which was the 2023 yarn club shipment. The range of greens represent a variety of needle-bearing trees, and create a subdued, but fun sock.
From the archives, in honor of the crazy cold, Falling Hoarfrost is also available for preorder. Bill designed this colorway based on our barn and trees during this magical weather phenomenon.
All these colorways are available for preorder now! Thank you so much for your interest in our tiny shop! We are a very small business and your purchaces and shares of our updates mean so much to us. Be warm, friends!!
