It’s raining right now, and on the other side of this weather front are temperatures that begin with a 3!!! There is fire wood in our living room and chili in our fridge. Are you ready for winter yarn???
We just listed two new colorways for preorder. Bill designed Christmas Brass Ensemble based on his high school trips to play trumpet and French horn all around Syracuse. He really loved the festive atmosphere, even if he found the opening note of Joy to the World to be particularly intimidating.
The yarn has wide stripes of silver and gold, and thin stripes of dark and bright red, and a green/gray. It’s classy and subdued.
In contrast….I designed Sledding and Sugar Cookies. It is the bright colors of mittens, hats, and sleds all speckled with snowflakes. There is also a buttery yellow stripe for the post-sledding cookies.
Both these yarns are available for preorder on any yarn base (with or without a contrast mini skein) through October 10.
Also available is Cliche Day - last year’s club colorway, now available for preorder. Cliche Day is celebrated on November 3, and the yarn includes stripes of “Plenty of Fish in the Sea,” “Once in a Blue Moon,” and more!
I also have Stash Cranking news for you! Our last farmers’ market is in the books and we need to keep Bill busy for the winter, so our yarn sock tube cranking services are back - just in time to help you with your gift knitting. To get it all kicked off, we’re offering a free “misfit” tube to all customers who order 5 tubes or more. A misfit skein is something we’ve dyed that isn’t quite salable. It might be a shorter skein, or a test we decided not to turn into a club yarn. But, I need this yarn out of my house, and we’ll crank it into a tube for you! This offer will be good until the end of the year, or while supplies last (don’t worry, we have a bunch!)
Here’s how stash tube cranking works: You pick a bunch of skeins from your stash (fingering or sport weight), and mail them to Bill who will crank them into tubes to your specifications. We’ll mail them back to you, and then you just add heels, toes, and cuffs for quick socks in any size. Bill has cranked many hundreds of skeins of yarn and is a great resource if you aren’t sure about gauge or fit. He loves talking socks and is so glad to help.
We’re also working out a process to help you with the shipping of your yarn to us. As a business, we have access to discounted postage rates and - if you have a printer - we could help you mail your yarn to us without ever having to go the post office. We’ll send you the details in our first email to you after you purchase cranking.
Battvent preorders are coming Friday, October 13 at 8pm Eastern! Battvent is 24 mini batts that can be spun separately or into one yarn. We’re offering two options this year: the standard battvent from previous years which comes in a big box with each mini batt wrapped secretly in a numbered bag; or a new format where all 24 mini batts will be enclosed in a ziploc bag. This second option is considerably less labor and materials, and it creates a more affordable way to access battvent. More details will be included in a brief email on Friday the 13th!
That’s all the news for now, fiber friends. I hope this weekend offers you wooly vibes, good company, and the space to enjoy it all.
