I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since we launched our Walk With Us club! But it has, and our fourth colorway is now available for preorder through August 12. This yarn celebrates that joyful escape of an evening walk after you’ve shared a great meal with someone you love. There is something so special about a twilight walk in a happy bubble, when the cares of the day have melted away and you can really focus on connecting and chatting with the human walking next to you.
The rich jewel tone stripes in this yarn are inspired by the tapas restaurant we often walked to when we lived in DC, and the gradient of a great sunset. The yarn is available as a single skein preorder, or you can sign up for the quarterly club. Club members receive a newsletter with a preview of the yarn, and a story that inspired the colorway. I’ve included an excerpt of the story at the very end (after the baby goats).
Preorder Walking, Talking, and Traipsing Trippily through August 12!
I’ve had a few requests for the very first Walk With Us colorway, Cornfields, so it is also available for preorder. After a very hot and humid week in the Midwest, I am looking forward to the deep blue autumnal skies captured in this colorway.
Pick your favorite yarn base, and options like mini skeins or sock tube cranking for either of these colorways now!
We’re about half way through our Farmers’ Market season, which means we’re starting to think about (and long for) winter activities, so I have news in two areas (well, three if you include the gratuitous baby goat photos).
Battvent will return for 2024! I’ll tease the theme and announce the launch date next month, but expect preorders to go live in early October. There will be two options: the full Battvent experience with individually wrapped packages, or the unboxed version with all 24 mini batts packed in a pair of ziploc bags. I expect pricing to be about the same as last year ($75 for boxed, $61 for unboxed – both prices include shipping within the US).
There will also be minor changes to the monthly yarn club in 2025. There are 4 months left under the current club themes of Nature (odd months), and Farm Life (even months). The theme for 2025 will be Flowing with the Muse...more info on that soon. Also, 2025 will likely be the last year of the monthly club, so if you’ve thought about joining the club, now is a good time! There are options for monthly or bimonthly shipments, stripes or semi-solid skeins.
Thus ends fiber news, and begins baby goat news!

Sunshine (who is notoriously a so-so mom), had triplets in July. There were two typically sized boys, ranging from 3-4 pounds each, and a teeny girl who was less than 1.5 pounds.
Sunshine outright rejected the little girl, so we brought her into the house as our first ever House Goat. She drank readily from a bottle and, over the course of a few days, got better at standing.
Now she lives with the owner of our local bookstore! She’s been named Jane and spends her days in the bookstore with Alice and Wendy the cats, and Maple the bunny. On Tuesdays, she charms everyone at the Farmers’ Market in her adorable pink harness. When she’s big enough to move into a barn, one of our wethered goats will go live with her, but right now Jane seems to think she’s a cat and is enjoying all the attention of humans.
Thank you for your interest in news from our shop and farm! We’re now on Facebook (and still on Instagram) if you’d like to give us a follow. Be well, knitters! Cooler weather is coming!!
A little bit of the newsletter bonus from the Quarterly Walk With Us yarn club.
One favorite destination was a tapas restaurant – it was about a mile down the road (2 metro stops). But… we walked. The thing about tapas is that you can eat a little, for relatively cheap, or a lot, and there is oh so much delicious diversity on the menu. Also, on Tuesdays, pitchers of Sangria were half-price! We have an often recalled memory of one particular Tuesday where we had… maybe 2 pitchers? 3? Honestly, my memory is a little fuzzy on the details. What isn’t fuzzy in memory is that in our inebriated state, we thought it wise to stop at the library on our walk home. And that, friends, is when I decided to read the Da Vinci code!
Is Walk with us club no longer available for sign ups?
The baby goats are adorable! Gorgeous yarn too :)
