Happy Spring, knitters! It was warm here for a few days and I got to knit and spin at our picnic table. It was a “false spring” however, and I have returned to flannel shirts and a warm fire for the next few days.
There are new items in the shop! I enjoy combining colors and dyeing self-striping yarn for you. This will continue! However, I also really love knitting patterned socks in semi-solid yarn (as you may have noticed from recent blog updates). I’ve been dyeing skeins for myself for a few months, and now I’m dyeing them for you too!
Nearly a dozen colorways have been listed in the shop! Most are on Corriedale, but there are some Targhee Fingering and Merino/Nylon skeins as well. If you see a color you like, but want it on a different base, please send me a note and I may be able to dye it for you.
Many of the colors are blue…this is because I am sponsoring the knit-along for the Solid Socks group on Ravelry for the month of June, which has been designated Blue. This group hosts a KAL every month (and mystery socks too). If you knit a pair of solid or tonal socks for the KAL you are entered in a prize drawing. In June, you can use any blue yarn you have, or any Knit Spin Farm semi-solid yarn. Just cast on your socks in June and finish them by July 31. (see the group for all the details).
I hope you’ll join us! (And if you do, you’ll see that I created a coupon code in the group. Spoiler: it’s SOLIDSOCKS and you can use it for 10% off any in-stock yarn)
Did you know that we can crank your stash yarn into sock tubes so that all you have to do is add heels, toes, and cuffs? Bill (or Cranky Big Bill, as he’s known to knitters), has made hundreds of tubes from a variety of yarn, and in a range of sizes and gauges. He loves talking sock tubes and helping knitters figure out just the right specifications for their yarn….but only until the end of March! Then, he has to shear sheep, plant potatoes, and plan for our summer market.
If you’d like some of your sock stash cranked into tubes for summer knitting, please let us know ASAP! Stash cranking will be shut down at the end of the month and won’t reopen until fall.
Ready for baby goats??
There are three new ones. Above is Curly. He’s quite little, but has a huge personality and the cutest two-color nose.
Edward R. Oreo has glorious fur and is currently tolerant of my smushing my face into it. They tend to become more squirmy as they grow, so I’m taking full advantage of their passivity while it lasts.
And, my girl Buttons is growing! She and The Dominator get a hug and a handful of treats every morning. We gave them bottles of milk replacer during the coldest days this winter, so they’ve learned that hugs mean food, and they come running whenever they see us.
That’s the spring news from here! Sending our best wishes and all the blooming wildflowers and singing birds your way!
