Get Ready for "Snowed in at Sugarplum Cabin"
Hello Friends! We’re in the last (but busiest) month of our farmers’ market and getting ready for fall. A winter’s worth of hay is secured in the barn, and I’ve been stacking wood. That means it is time to announce Battvent Preorders!!
Battvent is our annual advent package for spinners. It contains 24 different mini batts and you can choose to have them packed individually for a daily surprise, or a more simple, unboxed version (details below). Preorders will open on Saturday, September 21 at 7pm Eastern.
The theme for 2024 is Snowed in at Sugar Plum Cabin. Bill and I are drawing inspiration from the plethora of Christmas movies that we watch all winter. We’ve chosen a color palette for the wool based on the elaborately decorated, super-cozy, small-town settings of many of these movies.
We've envisioned a snug little cabin and taken inspiration from velvet ribbons and candle-lit mantles in a range of deep purples, burgundy and navy. There are also hints of gold, teal, green and brown. The images above and below capture the colors of the wool we’ve dyed. Many of the colors are medium to dark, but there will be pale accents as well.
The 24 mini batts are 0.25 oz each - for a total of 6 oz in a mix of Corriedale, Falkland, and Polwarth wools with a little bit of Blue-faced Leicester and Merino. They will also contain add-ins such as sari silk, sparkle, silk top and silk noil.
Because we’re being inspired by Christmas movies, Battvent will also include a 24 part story based on all the classic storylines. Have you ever played Christmas movie Bingo? Snowed in at Sugar Plum Cabin will check every box! The story will be emailed to you daily (unless you choose to not receive it) and here’s an AI generated movie poster for a preview:
Preorders will open on Saturday, September 21 at 7pm Eastern and you’ll find Battvent in the Batt section of KnitSpinFarm.com. There will be quite a few available, so please don’t stress about shopping right as it is listed.
Now some helpful details:
Choose Boxed or unboxed. There are two options for Battvent. In the standard boxed version the mini batts will be packaged separately in small numbered bags. Each mini will be a surprise and it's a great format for spinners who want to experience the ritual of opening a package each day. The cost is $77, which includes shipping within the US (outside the US, there will be a few dollars added).
For the unboxed option the 24 mini batts will be sent in a pair of clear ziploc bags. This option is considerably less packaging and labor, so is offered at the discounted price of $62 (includes US shipping). It's a good format for spinners who want more control over their spin, or who might be spinning at irregular intervals instead of daily. It would also make a great DIY advent calendar for a friend (or yourself if you have a loved one willing to create it for you).
